Discover this dog-friendly holiday in Devon

Whether you’re looking to catch some summer sun or planning a cosy winter’s escape, no matter the season Hayley’s Hut in North Devon is perfect.

Built on a working dairy farm (yes you’ll see cows going about their daily business!) it’s situated on a serene lake tucked away from the world with everything you could possibly need. With a hot tub, outdoor kitchen and indoor kitchen, woodburning stove, and fire pit, trust us when we say you won’t want to leave.

The weekend we escaped to North Devon the weather was warm and after a busy few weeks, we just wanted to switch off from the world - and thanks to how calm and tranquil this spot was, we very much did.

We stayed here for 3 days and only left once for an early morning hike (more on that later). There are tons of dog walks nearby but to be honest, even Indie was happy to follow our lead and chill.

Our advice: Pack some good food, good wine, and a good book because you’ll never want to leave this magical little spot!

When it comes to exploring the UK, we’re all over it - since Indie joined our little adventure crew we absolutely love taking her away with us so always factor her into our holiday plans. This means, when it comes to dog-friendly glamping, we feel like we know all the good stuff.

Whilst we still want a touch of luxury, we know that the location needs to be safe and comfy for Indie too - this is what made Hayley’s Hut so great!

It was a slice of paradise - beautifully designed with every tiny detail thought out.

The bed was comfortable boasting its very own star-gazing window - there’s no light pollution so on a clear night you can lay in bed and watch the stars, which we did and it was utter bliss.

With an indoor hob, outdoor aga, and firepit, the cooking decisions are endless (and super fun!) we went down the BBQ route and flame-grilled some meat, peppers, and halloumi most nights. Sitting outdoors and cooking whilst the sun goes down is one of life’s little pleasures especially being situated on the lake - watching the sky turn pink in the water’s reflection was a beautiful way to end the day.

It’s worth noting that Indie is pretty well behaved and whilst she likes to have a little mooch she does always come back to us. The area surrounding Hayley’s Hut isn’t completely gated in but there’s plenty of space for you to tie your pup up to a nice long lead just in case they like to roam a bit further than little Indie does.

Why is Hayley’s Hut one of the best places to stay in Devon with a dog?

We hope from our photography that it’s clear to see why Hayley’s Hut is one of the best places to stay in Devon with dogs but we thought we should list out all of the incredible amenities this wonderful shepherd’s hut has to offer…

  • 1 dog welcome

  • The wood-burning stove inside (with logs)

  • Fire pit BBQ

  • Well-equipped outdoor kitchen

  • Private parking for 1 car

Why Choose Devon for a Holiday With Your Dog

From coastal walks to countryside rambles, Devon has plenty to offer when it comes to holidaying with your furry friend.

We love being outside and exploring in nature and even though we spent the majority of time chilling and enjoying everything this wonderful dog-friendly glamping holiday had to offer, we did wake up super early one morning to catch the sunrise at Blackchruch Rock.

Blackchurch Rock is around 30 minutes away and is a large arch stack based on Mouthmill Beach. As keen photographers, we wanted to get up and see this magnificent rock and the stunning Devon coastline first thing in the morning so we woke around 3 am and jumped in the car.

It’s a short walk down to the beach so we parked at the National Trust car park at Brownsham - you can find this by turning off the B3248 road that is between Clovelly and Hartland. Once parked up, leave the car park and turn left down an access road to Lower Brownsham Farm - you can find out more about the walk down to Blackchurch Rock here.

We allowed around an hour to walk down there, don’t forget to take a torch!

The early morning start is worth it for the views…

It’s safe to say we were blown away by how beautiful this little staycation spot was.

Usually, when we enjoy a weekend away we want to do as much as we can but on this visit, we didn't want to leave the tranquil spot that this rural shepherd's hut was situated in.

The weather was perfect - we sunbathed, we bbq'd, we hit the lake in the rowing boat, we slept under the stars, we hopped in the hot tub, we napped on the outdoor sofa and we properly switched off.

One of our top-ever dog-friendly stays, thank you so SO much for having us!
