Shepherd's hut with hot tub: A delightful Cotswolds Staycation
When it comes to a romantic weekend in the UK, we’ve found the perfect spot. A boutique shepherd’s hut with a hot tub, surrounded by nature and in a beautiful Cotswold location - sounds good, right?
Enter Oak Retreat, this custom-built shepherds hut - complete with a hot tub - is located on the edge of the Cotswolds and makes a perfect break for couples here in the UK.
It sits peacefully (and privately) on farmland and has its very own sustainable Hikki Swedish hot tub that overlooks fields, trees and well, more fields. This is one hell of a hideaway staycation that allows you to completely switch off from the world, submerge yourself in nature and enter serious chill mode.
We spent a Saturday night here so made a plan to explore some beautiful villages nearby ahead of check-in at 3 pm - as we were coming up from South Oxfordshire, we hit the likes of Chipping Norton and Moreton-in-Marsh on the way through.
We also made a beeline for the award-winning Daylesford Farm, this rather well-known organic farm has a few locations but its flagship is located in the picturesque Cotswolds. With a farm shop, café, bakery and creamery (not to mention on-site workshops and wellness studios) it’s a bit of a day out.
We enjoyed a healthy lunch at The Trough Cafe, their converted barn dining room and then stocked up on some tasty treats for our mini staycation. Daylesford Farm is around 45 minutes from the shepherd’s hut and is well worth a visit.
On arrival at Oak Retreat, you’ll find your very own parking space next to the landowner’s house and clear signs that will take you round into the private field. It might be a tad muddy so bring some wellies with you just in case!
Visiting the hut in winter meant the trees were bare and the views were not as lush as they would be in summer, but actually, thanks to the log burner inside it was a great spot for a British winter staycation.
We just wanted to chill, eat good food, enjoy staying amongst nature and switch off, which we did! Although come spring/summer there’s no doubt this spot will flourish and become even more stunning thanks to the views over Bredon Hill.

Once we enjoyed dinner, some Bowl Grabber red wine and a soak in the hot tub (which was incredible!) we cosied up in bed with a film on our laptop and drifted off into a peaceful sleep, all by 10 pm! We woke the next morning fully recharged and instantly chatting about how god damn relaxed we were.
