The Courthouse Hotel: Where to stay in East London
The Courthouse Hotel; a chic and comfortable stay in the heart of London’s East End.
Fancy a night out with your partner or pals and looking for a lovely East London hotel to enjoy your overnight stay in? Look no further than The Courthouse Hotel. Situated right in the hustle and bustle of Shoredicth. It comes with its own cinema and bowling ally plus a delicious breakfast and stunning panoramic views of the city skyline. This East London hotel is a fine choice.
The Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch
The Courthouse Hotel is a striking Grade II building that has been renovated to a high standard. It used to be the Old Street Magistrates Court and Police Station which was famously known for sentencing notorious London gangsters, The Kray Twins.
With its gritty East End history, it was a given that the hotel would pay tribute to its past. Even the original cells are still intact and are now used as swanky booths as an add-on to the luxurious bar area. You’ll notice historic facts artistically painted on each ‘cell’ – we loved this touch!
We might be London locals and live 25 minutes from this boutique Hotel but there’s something special about a city staycation. We arrived at 5pm, checked in and enjoyed the views whilst choosing our spot for dinner.
The Courthouse hotel is surrounded by plenty of food options but we were captivated by the popular Homeslice Pizza. Here you can devour huge pizzas (and we mean huge!) for £20. It’s opposite the hotel so a great place to eat before your night out.
Where is The Courthouse Hotel?
The Courthouse Hotel is situated in the heart of the vibrant and trendy Shoreditch. You’ll find it across the road from the Town Hall on the iconic Old Street, and a stone’s throw away from some of London’s most amazing nightlife venues and well known restaurants. The Old Street and Liverpool Street stations are also a short walk away.
If you’re coming by car then let the hotel know ahead of your stay and you can book into their customer car-park. Failing that, there are car-parks and some on-road parking available around the hotel but be prepared to pay around £5 per hour during the day.
We stayed in the Xscape Room
With a decor of chic greys, fresh whites and splashes of pattern clashing, the rooms are contemporary and stylish. We stayed in the Xscape Room and had amazing views over the city. It was cool to watch the skyline turn from day to night – the skyscrapers looked so majestic.
Our room was fully fitted out with all the amenities; from fluffy bath robes, miniature toiletries and a selection of tea and coffee (plus biscuits!) it was definitely full of 5 star touches. The bed and pillows were also worthy of 5 stars – we drifted off into an insanely comfortable sleep only waking once the sun had started to rise.
There are 128 rooms of varying size at The Courthouse Hotel which means, whatever the occasion – anniversary, hen do, family trip – you’ll be catered for perfectly. The Xscape Room starts from £219 per night.
Champagne afternoon tea at the Courthouse Hotel London
We didn’t get involved with their afternoon tea but have heard it’s one to book! If your stay is a celebration then why not add this to the itinerary. The champagne afternoon tea can be enjoyed in their Grade II listed Jailhouse Bar. It oozes a luxe and contemporary feel and there are plenty of comfortable spots to enjoy (and Instagram!) your treat.
The menu serves up a traditional pot of tea accompanied by a selection of delicious sandwiches, pastries and scones – with jam and clotted cream of course!
Prices start from £19.75 per person
Our overnight stay at the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch was super fun. We embraced the nightlife, enjoyed a tasty dinner out and woke up in an incredibly comfy bed. No matter where you live, sometimes it’s just nice to get out and explore what’s on your doorstep. It’s surprising what fun lies a short car journey away!
